Design Case: Kitzbühler Horn – a rocky Alp chocolate package

A combination of the pyramid shape and a variety of high quality printing and finishing techniques illustrate the snow and the roughness of the rocky Alps, just as the design of the chocolate inside.

Kitzbühler Horn chocolate by Confiserie Manfred Wiegand, Austria.

The Mock-Up

The confectionery inside is protected by using trays for three separate layers.

Package design by Mayr-Melnhof Packaging Austria GmbH.

Production

The package was manufactured in 1-colour offset, matt varnish as well as partial UV varnish and textured embossing. The packages are delivered flat to the enduser and filled manually. The cartonboard used for this carton was Invercote.

Mayr-Melnhof Packaging Austria was the converter of this package.

Finished

Sometimes simplicity beats everything. The jury was greatly impressed by the effective combination of shape and techniques and the package is easy to open and re-close.
