Seven steps to success

Seven is a sacred number to many people on Earth.
The seven-branched candelabrum is only one example of this.
Seven is also how many pieces of advice you will receive prior to participating in Pro Carton Nordica’s design competition for packaging designs which have not yet been manufactured.

You may protest that cartonboard has more than seven advantages. True, but we’ve chosen
to fit into a pre-existing pattern something you should avoid in our competition.

1. THINK OF THE PRODUCT

Packaging is more than just a shipping container.
It reinforces its contents by enhancing them and giving the customer added value. So in your design, start from the product. That pays off both in the competition and in real life.

2. THINK OF THE ENVIRONMENT

You know that cartonboard is a recyclable material made from a renewable raw material which is planted and harvested. Cartonboard also gives lightweight, strong packaging which reduces emissions from the vehicles used to ship it.
The environment also benefits because the product arrives in one piece.

3. THINK OF PEOPLE’S BACKS

Most products are shipped long distances and handled by people in warehouses and shops. Heavy, shapeless and bulky packaging is an occupational safety issue.
With cartonboard you create packaging which makes the job easier and saves many backs.

4. THINK OF SELLING POWER

The entire production chain is sales driven. A product that doesn’t get sold, doesn’t get manufactured. That’s why the selling properties of packaging are of the greatest importance. Cartonboard is a material which attracts and inspires, informs and sells.

5. THINK OF THE CONSUMER

Packaging is also important after the sale. Packaging that’s easy to open and use encourages repurchase. And think if you were blind – how could you distinguish cocoa powder from potato flour? Braille is easily printed on cartonboard.

6. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

Routine is the great enemy of progress. Things should stand out and make a stir, entertain and create an impression. Cartonboard offers you possibilities like no other material. With form, colour and feeling, which result in attention and sales.

7. THINK OF YOURSELF

As a designer you achieve success by thinking creatively and constructively. What makes an impact most often are combinations of known formats in new materials or well-known materials in new formats. Think of yourself as a designer. Create something new in cartonboard and enter Pro Carton Nordica’s Design Competition.
